House of Sutai (Soo-tai) is a Fashion House founded by Peshawn Bread, a Comanche/Kiowa/Cherokee nonbinary Designer, Filmmaker and Creative Director.
With a career in creativity, Bread’s work spans from being a Liaison for Polo Ralph Lauren x Naiomi Glasses - Artist in Residency Program, Associate producer on Amazon Studio’s Outer Range ( S1-2), Working on Marvel Studio’s Echo, Being Creative Director of Teton Trade Cloth, Doing Creative Direction for different brands and being a Sundance Film Institute Alumni. Bread also has experience as a model, with campaigns such Ralph Lauren, Saie Beauty and many brands.
In the summer of 2023 during the WGA Writer’s strike, production came to a standstill for 6 months. Peshawn’s partner recommended that they pursue fashion while time stood still. With that, Bread began designing jewelry and posting their creations on their instagram which resulted in a shocking demand for pieces and more creations.
In September 2023, Bread officially announced House of Sutai’s launch beginning with jewelry and accessories then branching out into clothing.Within only nine months of operation, House of Sutai’s had it’s runway debut at SWAIA Native Fashion Week in 2024.
The brand is a marriage between Bread’s passion for storytelling in filmmaking and the complexity of fashion through their visually dynamic campaigns. As a brand, House of Sutai breaks the binaries of fashion, creating looks that dance on the edge of Indigenous design and showcasing Indigenous nonbinary/LGBTQ+2s models.
Since runway debut, the brand has garnered attention from ELLE Magazine, The New York Times and PBS. In September 2024 House of Sutai Collaborated with Planned Parenthood in the “We Decide” campaign alongside designers such as Kenneth Cole, Prabal Gurung and Diane Von Furstenberg.
Through its meteoric rise, House of Sutai plans and hopes to collaborate with fellow Native designers and major fashion houses.
Bread has famously quoted “I just want to create clothing that everyone will feel cunty and stunning in. Native or Non-Native, everyone deserves to OWN the room”
